Julius Lowenthal founded Colibri in 1928 , the man who also invented the world’s first fully functional semi-automatic lighter during the same year. In 1935, Colibri introduced the fully automatic ‘Monopol’ lighter, featuring an acceleration system. During the period from 1940 to 1945, Colibri manufactured the ‘Stormgard’ lighter specifically designed for soldiers serving in World War II. In 1952, Julius Lowenthal’s son, Jack, joined Colibri, bringing new energy to the company. Colibri manufactured a lighter featuring a visible multiple gas refill and a hydraulic auto-flint system. In 1967, they introduced an electric lighter called Molectric.
